In Switzerland, manufacturers and importers of applicable products are required to collect recycling and disposal fees. Additionally, fees related to copyright apply. Product fees are managed by various organizations, and manufacturers and importers must register with these organizations independently. Reporting and payment processes are handled directly with the respective organizations. Detailed product lists and tarifs can be found on their websites.
As a Supplier at Digitec Galaxus AG
Depending on the agreement between the supplier and Digitec Galaxus AG, product fees may or may not already be factored into the price list. When onboarding as a partner with Digitec Galaxus AG, it is therefore necessary to declare whether any applicable product fees are already included in the price.
Product Fees
SENS (Recycling fee for electrical and electronic devices)
Purpose: Financing the environmentally friendly disposal of electrical and electronic devices.
Legal basis: Verordnung über die Rückgabe, die Rücknahme und die Entsorgung elektrischer und elektronischer Geräte (VREG).
Details:
Manufacturers and importers are required to collect an advanced recycling fee (vorgezogener Recyclingbeitrag, vRB) for household electrical and electronic household appliances, tools, and lighting.
Goal: Promote the circular economy and prevent electronic waste.
Note: SENS is a nationwide industry solution, and membership is voluntary. However, the ordinance applies to all manufacturers and importers.

Swico (Recycling fee for IT and office equipment)
Purpose: Financing the environmentally sound disposal of IT, office, and consumer electronics.
Legal basis: Verordnung über die Rückgabe, die Rücknahme und die Entsorgung elektrischer und elektronischer Geräte (VREG).
Details:
Manufacturers and importers are required to collect an advanced recycling fee (vorgezogener Recyclingbeitrag, vRB) for IT, consumer electronics, and office/telecommunication equipment.

Legal basis: Bundesgesetz über das Urheberrecht und verwandte Schutzrechte (URG).
Details:
A fee applies to blank storage media or devices with built-in storage media.
Goal: Revenue is distributed to artists and rights holders.
INOBAT (Disposal fee for batteries)
Purpose: Financing the collection and environmentally sound disposal of batteries.
Legal basis: Verordnung des UVEK (Departement für Umwelt, Verkehr, Energie und Kommunikation) über die Höhe der vorgezogenen Entsorgungsgebühr für Batterien, based on the Bundesgesetz über den Umweltschutz (Umweltschutzgesetz, USG).

Manufacturers and importers of batteries are required to collect an advanced disposal fee (vorgezogene Entsorgungsgebühr, VEG).
Goal: Prevent environmental harm caused by batteries.
